After 20 days without food or water, Wangchuk was transferred to Safdarjung Hospital on Saturday morning, sparking concerns about the government's motives and the human rights implications of its actions.

The transfer comes as the Union health ministry placed three central government hospitals on alert and designated Dr Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital as the nodal centre for any medical emergency involving protesters.
