Russia's War on Dissent: The Yabloko Ban and the Erosion of Civil Society The Supreme Court in Russia has dealt a devastating blow to the country's opposition movement by ruling that the anti war party Yabloko be barred from participating in September's parliamentary elections.
On Monday, the court sided with Rodina, a nationalist pro Kremlin party, which had petitioned for Yabloko's exclusion.
The motion to bar Yabloko was based on claims that the party received undeclared financial support from Western sources, allegations that Yabloko vehemently denied in court.
