As he marks this milestone, thousands of fans are sending him birthday messages, cards, and gifts. Punch's story began a year ago when he was abandoned by his mother due to exhaustion after birth.
The zookeepers nursed him back to health and gave him an orangutan plushie to help develop his gripping ability – a crucial skill for newborn macaques.
